The Wag-O-Meters is a father-and-son storytelling music project from Key West, Florida, created by Everett and Wyatt Smith. We write songs inspired by real life—stories of rescue, family, friendship, island living, and the moments that shape who we are. Our debut release, I'm Deaf, But I Still Hear Ya, tells the true story of Kokita, a deaf rescue dog who went from surviving the streets of Miami to finding her forever home in Cayo Hueso. This reggae version is the first release in a concept album that will tell Kokita's story through a variety of musical genres. Over time, we'll release country, blues, rock, soul, folk, jam band, and other interpretations of the same journey, allowing each style to bring out a different emotion while preserving the true story. Beyond the Kokita album, The Wag-O-Meters will also release standalone singles inspired by other true stories, memorable people, family adventures, and the moments in life that deserve to be remembered in song. Every song begins with something real. We just happen to tell those stories through music. If even one person hears Kokita's story and decides to adopt a rescue pet, we'll have succeeded beyond our wildest expectations.
